DB - Data Base.
Well, pk2lib is cool. Good. Official name - PK2 Library, link and shortcut - pk2lib. Simple? Simple.
TEO's idea is pretty good - I thought of the same.
I have experiences with Blogspot too. It's a great blog hosting service (writing blogs (um, now only one, but nvm) there since 2007), never seen better (um, I didn't try the WordPress engine, but whatever - fk the rest, we're the best, right? xD). Intuitive interface, free, many addons, freedom to adjust the look.
I vote for Blogspot.

Really, I haven't tried WordPress so I can't really know if that's worse than Blogger...

@teo: Just as lsudny pointed out, "db" stands for database. @teo & lsudny: Yeah, I also think that "pk2lib (PK2 Library)" is a good name. On the topic of blogging platform: both Blogger/Blogspot & WordPress are very good blogging platforms, each with some nifty (cool) features. I prefer WP.com because of WordPress' open-source nature and the free hosting of blogs on WP.com (the last is relatively the same with Blogger as well, i. e. free blog hosting on Blogger.com). Plus, WP offers import/export all content functionality that makes it very easy to migrate to a new domain and/or a new host. In addition, WP supports the creation of an unlimited number of pages (while Blogger/Blogspot introduced a similar service just recently and it limits the maximum number of pages to 10 - techie-buzz.com/blogging-tips/blogger-introduces-pages-for-blogspot-blogs.html ). Pages, unlike posts, are rather static pages that show up in the navigation menu and that are like the different sections of a website, while posts are a blog thing and are chronologically ordered (newest to oldest). In short, for me, a WP.com-hosted blog beats a Blogger.com-hosted one at almost all aspects (ease of use, better multiple authors feature, etc), excluding the direct source code editing and the more readily-to-use custom widgets/add-ons/themes & customization options (in which Blogger.com hosting is a bit better). Still, if we host a WP-powered blog outside WP.com (on a paid host), we can edit the source code of WP at any time (but that means paying the hosting bills for full hosting, which aren't that high these days - something like 5-15$/month will do the job perfectly). I don't know if a Blogger blog can be hosted outside Google's Blogger.com free blog hosting service (but you said that MAYBE PisteGamez' blog is sel-hosted, but I'm still not too sure about that). That's my 2 cents. Other names for the NEW mapstore that I've come up with: pk2reslib (PK2 Resources Library), pk2resdb (PK2 Resources Database). Still, pk2lib or pk2db are good enough. I would advise for us to choose between pk2lib and pk2reslib and host it either on Blogger or on WP.com (by popular vote). If we use WP, we can migrate the mapstore to a different domain and/or host whenever we want, while I'm not sure if Blogger blogs can do that. And after deciding on that, we should really get the episode adding process going, we've wasted enough time on the "What name to use? / Where to host and using which blogging platform? (we've already decided on a free-hosted blog for starters, I guess)". (waiting for your replies)

Well, I'm ready to test WordPress cause like I said I have no experiences. But I have found a server that might be interesting. Its name is GoFreeServe, it's free and has many features. Tell me your opinion. And I vote for PK2 Library (pk2lib). It's better than PK2 Database (pk2db). And I think I prefer pk2lib to pk2reslib.

So, we shall copy all the episodes from the old mapstore. Sahwar: by reviewing maps (episodes) you mean something like that here? If so, I would love this. EDIT: Still waiting for answer, but I have a new idea. What about featuring episodes, like there (link)? It would be cool. EDITEDIT: Hmm... You say that Blogspot's code is editable, maybe we can add ratings system?

That might be hard to code but I think that could be done.

I know PHP,HTML,MySQL, and some javascript.
But you can do a static page in HTML and I add code to make a dynamic page sth like rating system, comments, upload etc. whatever you want.

@teo: OK, PK2 Library (pk2lib) will be the name, it's decided! You said you're ready to give WordPress a go, if by that you mean creating a free WordPress.com-hosted blog to use as pk2lib, I'm with you - I can create it anytime and I'll also be able to transfer the texts I've already done for pk2mapstore2 (and then delete that one). OK, the PK2 Library (pk2lib), by popular vote, will feature not only map downloads but also other resources downloads (sprites, backgrounds, music, etc). GoFreeServe's free hosting sounds promising but I have some very bad experiences with full free hosting, i. e. it's not very reliable and websites hosted on them are often offline (excluding the free blog hosting services which are reliable), so I'd prefer not to try such a "sounds too good to be true" full free hosting. Also, coders would be a great addition to the NEW mapstore's staff team, but they won't have much work unless we move the blog-hosted PK2 Library (pk2lib) to a seperate, full-host (paid) domain. @lsudny: I thought you understood that by "episode reviews" I mean exactly what you said (similar to NUMA's "featured maps"), but even better - our reviews will be longer and more detailed and we'll also have a seperate section for Featured (approved and high-quality) episodes. I considered FTP hosting, but that can only happen if we use a full-hosting (paid) or a free service similar to GoFreeServe. The last was suggested by TEO, but I personally don't trust such full free hosting services (I already said why above). Examples of good cheap paid hosts are BlueHost.com and DreamHost.com, if we're going to consider using full-hosting in the future (but we won't use a paid host for now because I don't think that we would like to spend money on hosting when we can use a free blog hosting, like WP.com's). piotrulos: Your programming/coding skills will be quite useful but we will need programming help ONLY if we move to a full-host (paid (good) or free (untrustworthy in my opinion)). Plus, WordPress supports comments, post ratings & post polls and other by default, so we wouldn't need a coder for these if we use WP (and from what TEO said, I think we've agreed that we'll use WP.com hosting for starters before we find and move on to better solutions). P. S. OK, if you all agree on my proposal for a WP.com-hosted pk2lib for starters (say if you agree), I'll create it as soon as you say that you agree. As I said, we can always switch hosts and website design in the future, but for me having a NEW and functioning mapstore as soon as possible is the top priority here rather than the website design or the webhost type (free or paid).

I agree, accept and give up... BUT I found out something. There in the feature introduction it says: "We add themes regularly based on user requests. If you’re a CSS pro, you can also customize your CSS code." Whee. I can customize teh code.

You're pretty right. ;D
And I think we can choose a theme we like and then edit it. That's a good thing. And of course we can make some graphics for the site (logo etc.). Hmm. Not a bad idea. I'll start making graphics. If you want you can make some too and we can then choose what we like to have on the page.

@ TEO & lsudny: First of all, I'm happy to see that you agree on hosting pk2lib.wordpress.com. And I like that you support my idea of episode reviews (as I said they'll be just like an extended version of the NUMA "featured" maps with map description, screenshots, review, recommended resolution for the episode, etc). Second, I did mention in a previous post that WP.com-hosted blogs have limited visual themes available for use and that the "customize CSS" is a paid feature (yes, they have to financially support the free hosting somehow and they do it with cheap, but paid, advanced upgrades). So don't speed up with the "I'll make a custom theme soon" - we'll eventually get to that point, but first we have to find some money to buy the aforementioned upgrade if we're going to delve into customizing the CSS (essentially, that means the website's visuals). The logo and sidebar graphics, however, are another thing - some of the available themes support custom image headers (logos), so I'll just select a theme with this feature. It'd be good if you create some mini banners for pk2lib. I've also created a logo for pk2lib (it's just a modified version of the one currently used at pk2mapstore2 (note: I'll delete that blog once the new one is set up since we won't be needing it)), so we'll be using it for starters. Once you show your graphics design, we can always switch the logo, but I'll use mine for starters, since it'ls already done. And I'll have to repeat myself to counter some misunderstandings that what I've just said may cause: OK, I'll create the new URL later today. I'm going to bed now, I haven't slept tonight (I hate when I can't sleep during the night and fall asleep in the morning but sometimes I just can't sleep during the night for some reason). I'll respond to your future comments after I get up, so start commenting. P. S. Read these for a description of the paid upgrades of WP.com-hosted blogs: en.wordpress.com/advanced-services/Paid features - en.wordpress.com/products/Free features - en.wordpress.com/features/Current prices for some of the paid features: Custom CSS = 14,97$/year BTW, I know that they are also other restrictions, but we should bear with them for the time being until we move the website to a cheap, but paid, full hosting that will enable FTP and other things you've already mentioned. We just have to find some money for that first, until then we'll have to manage with this free option.
