1. I just know some HTML and CSS. I've planned to start studying C++ but Microsoft Visual Studio messed up with me (and created a folder within itself! I never got rid of that...) so I haven't yet learnt to know it. 2. My album will be called Mundus Cruentus and have six music tracks. And a digital booklet. 3. Good if you like it. 4. It appears to be a site with open game art. 5. nano.fi/6. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jabber / fi.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jabber7.

Two days ago we got an email from someone who claims to be a freelancer who would like to do some writing in PK2Lib, for free. Not sure if ingenious spam or a real offer since this guy is willing to attach a link to some corporation in his posts. I'll quote the whole message so you can analyze it. Especially Sahwar's opinions I'd like to hear since he is another administrator of PK2Lib.
What do you think and how should I reply? Or should I, at all?

*Such off-topic discussions are best left for PMs. I think that the topic title of this thread is mostly to do with updates to PK2lib, not proposals for or comments about such...* I think that this is one of those 'cleverly written, yet still questionable' spam messages. It'd be better to either ignore it, or troll the sender (who's probably fake or an automated bot) by sending a reply that basically says "We're grateful to hear from you and your proposal sounds tempting. However, we have clearly outlined our policy for recruiting new writers as staff members of PK2lib and the process is clearly explained in the "Apply for a staff position" page, and, sadly, we don't allow linking to commerical websites, unless it's about pointing out some information which could be useful to PK2 fans or PK2 map makers." That's what I think. Please feel free to comment further, but with PMs, as this is a forum thread with a preselected topic, not a general chat room.

And couln't find a better thread nor want to make a new one. I think that this is one of those 'cleverly written, yet still questionable' spam messages. Maybe I should read the stuff you wrote more carefully... Okay, decided. Let us not reply this supposed bot since if we do, we make it clear for the bot's user that our email adress does exist. But I think he knows it already because we had the message with lot of detailed information about ourselves.

But I think he knows it already because we had the message with lot of detailed information about ourselves. Well, that's what the "Apply for a staff position" page is about although it doesn't specifically mention linking to commercial websites, the explanation I gave above is a sort of unspoken-yet-generally-agreed-upon policy. Exceptions to it are, of course, allowed, so long as these are not too frequent or overly annoying. About replying: if you find it amusing, you can still troll him as I mentioned above, you know, for 'teh lulz'. I sure hope it's really an automated spam bot, or else it'll get quite funny. OK, enough about that. It'd be best to post PK2lib updates here in the future, as you/we did so far. That's about it from me for now. Carry on and have a nice day.

Indeed you can. I created a function that changes PK2Lib's seasonal outfit when the winter turns into summer. Also, there'll be a mobile PK2Lib! Holy smokes, you're still in high school and you can do so much with HTML, CSS and especially JavaScript! I envy your talent and efforts! I can barely do anything in JavaScript (as in: nothing...), while you're coding JavaScript functions as a teenager... All you need to do is try. I know this the best. To learn this stuff, go to www.w3schools.com. Tutorial series>basic idea of what to do>searching for useful functions>do something you think will be cool. Not exactly PK2 HTML5 port, first some alert button, then maybe some basic, eval-based calc, then, after some more experience, first snake-like game using table (tr,td), then maybe first use of canvas element. You will be able to do this only if you try and truly wish to do/learn something. Cheers ^^

However, I'm not planning on learning everything there us to know about web design and web development. Also, some parts of HTML5 aren't final yet and are pretty hard to grasp. Nevertheless, thanks for the encouragement. However, I'm not the persistent type, I easily get discouraged and I often abandon projects and learning attempts and switch to doing something else. And the vicious cycle repeats itself soon after... xyard: My increased forum activity is only temporary, I'll go back to my cave now... that is to say, I'm an irregular visitor and poster, I post when I feel like saying something. P.S. Enough about me, stick to the topic of the thread, please.
