You've tried to resize window, huh? In addition to emulation of the surface, it has to filter pixels (nothing expensive, but well) and additionally, redraw bigger area. I might be totally wrong though. Try 1280x960.

I don't have lag if I put 1280 x 720 resolution to PK2 on dxwnd. But I haven't tried any bigger resolutions. And I still like to play with 640 x 480 because the graphics are the best then.

Nothing, with 1024x768 set on dxwnd and pk2, the game lags, it's playable with double speed... however the screen stay small... I think it's better to play 640x480 with magnify tool (start+r, write magnify), with this I get 80 FPS

I'm not sure if I follow... Are you sure you set PK2 resolution to 640x480 and resized game window (surface) by 2?

Do the computer components effect this problem? Or is it only Win 8 fault?

Do the computer components effect this problem? Or is it only Win 8 fault? You mean what? Poor performance? General PK2 graphics glitches?

The properties for Windows 8 (in dxwnd) fit to other old games too; (in Windows 8 of course).
Example: Captain Claw (1997)
Useful program! I wonder would it grow the FPS of new games, but that's not necessary.

It would rather cause FPS drops than grows, but feel free to try. It was designed to allow running most of older, DX-powered games (maybe mostly, for running them in windows, but well).

DxWnd has been updated. It implements some new thingies, but so far I haven't found anything making it (even) more useful for us. There is some AERO compatibility mode that needs to be DISABLED though, because it decreases framerate dramatically.

Here's a picture that shows what to use and what not to use with DxWnd to get PK2 to run on newer operating systems (e.g. Windows 7 / 8.1): i.imgur.com/cuQF9yH.png
