There is one problem though. Setting DxWnd is a pain in the... neck. We really need to do something so that PK2 is playable out of the box, because the kids might not be able to handle the game. Even playing PK2 with DxWnd can be challenging at times.

Even playing PK2 with DxWnd can be challenging at times. For me it is no problem, but at least now they have a hint as to what to set in DxWnd to get PK2 running. I'm not sure about solutions to this problem at the present, perhaps you can come up with some interesting ideas.

Three letters: SDL

Remaking PK2 in SDL requires that TEO and the other Finnish users first translate the game's source code into English... also, I'm no programmer, so I can't really do it myself. BTW, thanks for participating in the discussions, I don't feel so alone in the forums now.

Wow, this is incredible. But I have a problem.
Warning -------------------- DXWnd is already running. Exiting.
Can anyone tell me what's wrong?

Exit the previous one before trying to open a new one. If you can't find your previous DXWnd session, it's probably haunting in your background processes. Kill it Friendly ask it to die.

I don't even know that ) thanks for making such awesome episodes.

He may or may not do that. He was last seen over a year ago. That's too sad. Does anyone know much about him?(age, status, life)

He may or may not do that. He was last seen over a year ago. He is most likely male, as Iv4n is a garbled way to write the Bulgarian name Ivan, which is a male name. As far as I know iv4n's other account here on the forums is iivn (or something like that) and I know that he is a Bulgarian like me because he made the 1st Bulgarian translation of PK2 (I made the second (revised) one based on his one). He appears to have a blog at {link removed as it seems that the old link that I had is either broken or just a plain wrong address}. Maybe you should try to find his profile page here on the forums and perhaps see if he has listed an option for emailing him there...

Hey, I got a new computer (Win7) and I have used dxwnd to run the editor. It works very well but just pressing the f4 key forces the program to shut down, therefore I'm not able to put any sprites in levels. Anyone knows to fix this?

If you have just the Win7, try the other method: 1. Make sure you don't have the auto-changing wallpaper enabled 2. Right-click on the Desktop 3. Click the screen resolution option 4. In the newly-opened window, click Advanced, or your localized version of Advanced 5. Click the Monitor tab 6. With all that stuff still opened, try running PK2 or the Editor

That doesn't help. PK2 and the editor work fine except that pressing f4 works as alt+f4. I tried changing some things in DxWnd but it didn't help either. I'll look for solution on the net.

I forgot to mention that you should NOT run DxWnd with the second method. That F4 thing might have to do with intercepting errors or Alt-F4. F4 works for me (in the version I have on screenshots in the first post). The most stupid thing that might cause the problem could be the broken Alt button By the way, Merry Xmas!

A broken Alt would probably cause every program to shut down when pressing F4.
