Ok, so here goes my opinion on the old-new assets.
Music:
Another Forest Song - I like this small tune, it fits PK2 style very well, although the looping could have been better.
Sceneries:
Beach_d2 - A good replacement of the overused EWSTLND and it's nighttime version, which I've seen in almost every desert map made so far. I like this background but the pixelization is so strong on this image

Beach_d - This one is rather plain. I prefer the one above.
Castle2 - Well, this one is just square blocks copied from one tileset, nothing special unless you can find some really good theme for it.
Dunes - One of my favs, the dunes look very natural and beautiful. I would like to see high quality version of this image though.
Eggland - This one is funny. It will go well with an Easter themed map or a bonus map. Both "Eggland" images are almost identical, but the othe one has been moved to the right to avoid the allusion of them beiing so similar.
Field2MV - This one is... wrong. Not only it's just a messed up version of one field background, but it also breaks the color palette. Not gonna use it.
Forestn4 - I like it very much, it is very creepy forest. Good replacement of the overused "FORESTN*" backgrounds.
Jungle4 - It looks more like a cave than a jungle. Despite that, I still like it, especially the night version.
Rocks - This one the most reminds me of original PK2 graphics. It's one of my favorites, I just haven't figured out yet whether it's a daytime or nighttime scenery

Snow1 - Finally some good replacement to the overused Kalan's snow background. It even has a nighttime version, so that's good too. The scenery however is quite plain, some trees or rocks would make it look less bland.
Town - This one is may favorite, the town is very well drawn and looks realistic. It also has a nighttime version with some lights on and a black and white version, which I'm not gonna use because it screws up the palette settings (as a result - every object becomes shades of grey).
Tiles:
Desert tiles - these are definitely the best desert tiles made so far. I like them very much, they look good combined with one of the new beach sceneries.
Town tiles - these tiles go best with the new town scenery, they're very well designed. The screenshot of a level using them reminds me of the old game "Sinterklaas".
Sprites:
Arrows - I already made a set of arrow sprites based on the info signs. These new arrows would look better in factory or space maps rather than in normal field or forest maps. Nonetheless, I like them.
Big trap - These work basically like Thwomps, squishing player by falling from above. They seem bugged because sometimes Pekka just ducks and takes no harm. Strange bug.
Chicken Bones - I remember Janne speaking of those in some old thread, finally we get to see them

They are doodle resistant and basically just walk (or fly) in a very slow motion, kinda like deaf hedgehogs or doodle resistant bats. They are great for castle or halloween maps.
Candies - I like the basic design of the candy, however the animation was made in a rather sloppy manner, there are jagged edges which don't look very good. Mediocre sprite.
Flame 3 - This one we already know, but it collides with flame 3 created by Rajdh (or Kiolp). I like this type of enemy - hopping flame

Ghost powder - we know these too, they give temporal invisibility to player. However, I have no idea what's the difference between "Ghost powder" (orange sack) and "ghost powder renew" (teal sack)

Jewels - well, great, now we have fourth jewel design (there are designs by Rajdh, TEO, mine and now also Janne's)! They do look beautiful though, the animation looks very appealing. The only problem is that it collides with the already existing bonus image...
Pineapple - we know it as well, not much to say about it except that it was first used by iv4n in his Iv4n Island 2.
Platforms - same as above. It's great that Janne released this sprite earlier, it's an essential sprite in most episodes!
Spiders - I like this sprite, except that the spiders' web is kinda... non existant, which makes them look like they are floating in the air (especially regarding the pink type of spider). I have no idea what the grey spider is supposed to do though, it doesn't move at all, even when it sees player. Weird. Also, it's sad that the spiders don't give any points

Spikeheads - well-known sprite, it was first used by Iv4n and it makes it appearance in many factory or space themed custom maps and also as a favicon of Galactic Cataclysm readme (lol I remember that).
Turtles - I like them, expecially how they transition between states. It is hard to kill them, because they're possibly the only existing enemy that is absolutely resistant to egg attack. Also, doodle just kinda flies above them when attacked directly, so you need to attack them from a slope. There's a bug with them however, because in the sprite editor the turtles are said to have three energy points, while in reality they only have one...
So, that's an overview of the new assets made by Janne Kivilahti in 2004-2005 and released in 2016
