Hello everyone, As you may (or may not know) the PK2 WebEditor was released a while ago. While it allows you to use only vanilla resources (for now), its an excellent opportunity to present an idea that I've had for quite some time. I would like to invite you all to a Weekly Map Challenge. The goal of this initiative is to provide us with one nice level per week, created using only vanilla (original PK2) resources, and having medium length and difficulty. Potential levels could be posted in this thread (or per-week ones, OR at our Discord server, depending on how it will work out), and the best of them would be selected by votes and included in the Weekly Map pack, that will be updated accordingly. If Discord option wins somehow, only the winning levels will be presented here. The rest of the levels can be commented to leave feedback on how to improve them, and the map author(s) can try next week (if they want). Non-winner levels will also land in the second pack, to play them or for future reference (unless they win at some point). This way, the busy people will get the best levels to play, and more level-hungry ones will also get something to play with. Additional rule would be to use PK2 WebEditor (mostly to make you show it some love, collect feedback, fix bugs, decide on priorities and potential features). If you have any ideas on how to improve this challenge, send comments below, or on PM me.

Really cool idea. Some ideas i have for this: - Point distribution(different subjects get less/more points and the addition of all of them divived is the total): - Graphics(details in the map that doesn't make any gameplay difference, but make the map looks prettier): 20 points - Gameplay(most important subject, maps with creative gameplay mechanics get more points at this subject): 50 points - Background story(the story of the level, like why pekka is doing that(or other character). The more creative stories get more points at this subject): 20 points - Other(anything not related to any of the other subjects): 10 points
- Rules(some other rules i would like to have in this): - Story(you should make a story with the level and put it with the level file, it can be made with video, sounds or text) - Archives format(the files should have a specific type of file, for example, "any sound with the level(like the story sound) should be .mp3". RavMahov you should decide which are the permitted files format) - A file(the level should be uploaded inside a folder)
I just made this reply because of you Rav, because been sincerely, i hadn't any good idea for it. I just think about some cool ideas and put them here, so it is possible that they aren't that good.

I'm not sure if the lore/story thing is good for a single map, because we are hanging them together in one episode and if every map has a different story, it's not necessary to even create the stories.

I just think about some cool ideas and put them here, so it is possible that they aren't that good. Point distribution is probably a good idea (but it will complicate the voting process). NO ARCHIVES. The "vanilla resources" requirement is specifically for the single-file maps. No custom music/tilesets/sprites/backgrounds. Just a map file. This will also allow you to be more creative within that bounds (the amount of customization options can often limit level-related creativity, see a couple of old Quake/Counter Strike maps and the current ones). And if that does not turn out as I expect it, you will at least appreciate your ability to use custom resources even more. About story, I wouldn't make that a requirement. Some (many?) of the episodes contain short makeshift storyline, just because the authors feel obliged to include it (or I would like to think so). If somebody wants to do this, I'll definitely want to see that. Besides, PK2 isn't much of a storytelling game, we don't even have an ability to create custom ending, and non-colliding map icons/infosigns (now, do we?). I would focus on the fun gameplay and eye candy. So, my point distribution would probably look like this: - Gameplay: 60p (because it's what matters the most) - Graphics: 40p - Other: (bonus) +20p (so an interesting contraption in the level that makes it worthwhile/memorable will get additional points, like that one in-wall-built thing with key falling on hedgehog in one level I don't remember the name of)
