Hello people, I'm new on this forum but I'm a (very) old Pekka Kana 2 player. And last year I discovered that PK2 source code is free for editing, and better, I discovered that somebody had made a SDL port to the game ( github.com/stt/pk2). That is fantastic, because there are so many problems in running this game on new versions of Windows, and also, with this it's possible to run the game on Linux. So I've downloaded and compiled on my Linux to test, and with some bug fixes and changes it has runned. But I saw that the code is in the same way since 2010 (7 years ago), and almost everything on it is in Finnish. This is a open source game, and like every open source program, it needs to be improved and updated by everyone who wants. I think mr. Kivilahti have provided the source code to us with this intension. So I've forked the Samuli Tuomola's SDL version ( github.com/danilolc/pk2) and updated it with my changes to the code (it has ported to SDL2, some variable names changed to English, some bug fixes...). It doesn't run in Windows yet, but I promise that I'll be working on it. And if you know programming and/or have a free time, fell free to pull requests or fork the code. If you use Linux you can run the game just downloading the code, downloading the SDL2 libraries (SDL2 SDL2_image SDL2_mixer) and running the make file (command to get these libraries on Ubuntu: "sudo apt-get install libsdl2-dev libsdl2-image-dev libsdl2-mixer-dev"). That's it, this game marked my childhood and I really want to help this game to not die.

Hello,
First, good work! Finally there is somebody willing to and capable of programming.
I might be wrong, but I think that @stt has taken a wrong approach to the graphics. He wanted to convert every bitmap into full-color PNG, and since PK2 relies on palettes greatly (as shown in my demos) it's a major problem.
Since there finally is another (probably cooperative) coder in our community, I could help you once in a while (since the whole port is a bit too much for me with my limited free time, that is also consumed by other projects).
Once again, good work. Keep it up!

Good to see more programmers here. I hope you'll achieve your goals and have fun here.
