Hello, First of all, I also think that speedrunning rooster island 1 have no sense because of how teleport castle works. But someone triggered me to think about it, by uploading this: www.speedrun.com/pk2And then I think "oh my god, I could do this 15 minutes shorter". I downloaded LiveSplit and got a grasp of how to use it. But while livesplit atcually works while running pk2 by dxwnd, It doesn't show, when I'm recording (Im using oCam right now, but if there is other good free software which would work, plz tell me). Do you have any experience on using speedruning software and know how to make LiveSplit (or any other program) show on recorded screen? What programs I should use to make speedrun of PK2?

If you'll ever consider speedrunning Rooster Island 2 then there's a pro tip: Remember what happens when you get smashed by 2 moving blocks vertically? It makes you go to the first free place over those blocks. Factory 1 (level 11) starts with such thing. Just press the blue button and wait beetween those blocks until they smash you. Then you'll be moved over the whole map, where the only thing (that makes sense) you can do is going to the right until the floor ends. When it ends fall next to it (don't touch the wall) until you see a hole in the wall - it's the end of the corridor where the exit is. For safety I recommend falling slow in order not to accidentally miss it

Not cheap hacks; Game allows it. Speedrunning in general is about looking for bugs and in-game tricks to beat game faster. So I will repeat what Ive written in comments on youtube. Im surprised that no one played on double speed. As an in-game feature, its perfecly legit to use it. Its an obvious thing to do from the very start.

But because people with different computers can run PK2 with different actual speeds, it would be fair to only count the in-game time.

Yeah, I agree, Ive mentioned that before. But again, double speed option is something different. Both normal and doubled speeds are affected by the problem of game performance as a whole. __ How to count in-game time? It would require some programming work wouldnt it?

The easiest way I can think of is setting a time limit to the level (if it does not already have one) and track how much time is left after reaching exit.

Hi! Lately I've been doing individual levels, mostly optimizing movement and finding new skips in certain levels. I'd like to show off some of the times and discoveries which I got/found during the last month: www.youtube.com/watch?v=bKmV3ZmslyU Apple Hills 0:20 (34.53) www.youtube.com/watch?v=5tCKEEJslqQ Scrambled Eggs 0:23 (39.83) www.youtube.com/watch?v=KRCnellKmFU Chicks n' Stones Key Collecting Skip - uses an infinite ice block bounce strat which I found by messing around in this area. It's also possible to somehow make an ice block wall that puts you inbetween the ceiling and can push you upwards, but I couldn't replicate it, it's much harder than it seems. By using an ice block bounce you can also skip the tower of 6 blocks which blocks the way to the teleport. www.youtube.com/watch?v=FZpArb05V4Y Frogwell 0:23 (39.61) - probably a new application of enemy bounce, instead of luring a bee to the beginning to get the ice doodle and skip a part of the level you can just do it with golden pig's flame. However, its hitboxes aren't aligned horizontally, some of them are higher, the other are lower. Here's a photo of a visual cue for the bounce - basically left foot has to be hidden inside the flame: imgur.com/ffkiYkw

You can skip the hunt of keys in Rainy Forest, but it's not that easy. You have to move the key at the top with the megaphone's sound and let it touch one of the three locks at the bottom of the room. I'll post a photo on Discord because is too big for ProBoards...
