Well, we all know it's going to be a free game. Don't worry.
But I'm wondering: if for some reason Pekka Kana 3 become a commercial game (or should I say idndie), would you buy it? And if yes, how much do you think it should cost and how much would like to pay for it?
I'll buy it and I think a $20 is a fair price. Though I would like to buy it for around $10-15. It would be great to see it on steam too.
What do you think?

It's not a question of wherever I really want to or not. Neither I'm going to get money from this. It's more like if it was not free, would you buy it and at what price? So I presume you won't buy it.

*resurrecting the thread, ahem, ahem*
Yeah, I would also pay for it, like $15-25, if it were to be released... But its development is frozen at the moment and only some work on the new Piste Engine is being done... Too bad, I would totally pay for the game!

They could make a bit of money, even if they released just PK2 for mobile game (free to play, some in-menu advert, donate to install 3rd party levels), since it still has many loyal fans. And it would (just maybe) allow them to work on PK3 (and future titles) for a living.

PisteGamez' staff should really listen to your suggestion, there's fame (and some money) to be made here, folks!

How are fans like me, who live too far away to buy PK3 with credit cards, supposed to play? Freeware rules.

Neither of us lives in the States, and two thirds of the Piste Gamez crew live in Finland. How are you supposed to play if you "live too far away to buy PK2 with credit cards"? By paying with something else than a credit card, possibly? No?

I didn't mean USA only, just banks that support online banking. I live in Bangladesh, so there's only one online banking system, but it's goes haywire sometimes, and doesn't even support PayPal!

That's too bad, Bangladesh's banking system (and its crappy online banking system) sounds like a very big disappointment. I guess that an online download is the way to go, while the payment could perhaps be made through a system like Western Union money transfer (I hope you have that in Bangladesh, it's pretty common, at least in Europe and the USA for people who don't want or do not use debit and credit cards, PayPal and banks). Or they could send you the CD/DVD with the game by regular snail post mail with the game manual included and any future updates by sending you a private email with a link to download the new version/patch/fix from. I guess that at least an international post service should be available practically everywhere, even in Bangladesh and it shouldn't be too expensive to send and receive packages by post.

Nah, all countries have snail mail. And I checked out, turns out there's no Western Union, but there's UCB and Standard Chartered, so looks like I could buy it online. But things go haywire when transaction occurs. Not haywire as in, technical haywire, Suppose Janne sold it for 15 US dollars. Currently, $15 --> Tk. 1159.65 Ouch. That costs a lot. Maybe if he sold it like for a dollar (like most Google Play Store Paid Apps), then it could be possible. For the Record, Tk. 1000 can get you a lot of things. Convert it back to (crude, public) US Dollar, and you'd get $50.

OK, if the potential price is too high for you, I'm willing to buy the game with my own money and give it to you as a present. However, a price under $5 is simply unaccaptable and unreasonable, don't look at those Google Play apps - most of them are short, stupid and their gameplay sucks big time. The better game titles are over $5 even in the Google Play store, as far as I see it. And there's a good reason for that - you just can't make any money selling a game under $5, even though it could be a masterpiece in which a lot of hard work has been put into... Indie game developers need more support, respect and cash, otherwise they'll stop making games because of non-gamedev jobs that earn them cash won't give them the time needed to develop a proper game.

Yeah. But luckily for us, there are countries in much worser condition. Actually, the thing that happens when you convert money, is that it's value can get changed. The higher the difference between the 2 currencies, the more it can get upgraded or downgraded. (Keep in Mind though, that you just can't get $10000 and double it. I guess the limit is hand cash) However, that kind of stuff doesn't happen in banks. I guess that's where (most, except some cunning) tourists change their money. And please, don't consider me gifting the game. I'm not poor . It's just too much of a hassle. If it's really good and amazing, and Janne's up with it's time (like PK2-2004) then I'll consider buying it with permission from my Dad & Mom, maybe at my birthday or some rare occasion. (Tk. 1000 is not cheap. IDK, Americans seem to spend $15 pretty easily. ) And I guess I have to agree with you, $5 is not enough. Not enough for a Game Dev. I just compared it to apps sold in GPS. There are amazing apps and games sold under $5. And they're not bad. I guess the Devs are content enough with more than $50000. Suppose a person buys your $1 game and likes it. G = $1 Now, according to GPS rules, every app deserves a fair chance. So if your app gets more than 100 downloads, and 1 5-star rating, it'll pop up on 'What's trending' Now, PK3 (Like PK2) is a very good game, so some more people should buy that. If it gets 50000 downloads, then. G * 50000 = $1 * 50000 50000G = $ 50000 Of course, it can get higher than that. (But also lower!! ) This was a huge post.
