Here's some screenshots I've taken from PK3 that may or (most likely) may not reflect what the game will eventually look like. There has been quite a few iterations to the graphics and they are still very much work in process.
I'm not promising any new screenshots before the game is nearly completed, which is ... no one knows.
Wow, these screenshots look brilliant! Thank you very very much for giving us these insights into Pekka Kana 3. Feels like Christmas has come early this year . I can't wait to play it even if it takes another year or more to finish the game. And please, take the time you need to finish it so it will be as good as Pekka Kana 2.
Btw: Excellent work with the background layers! I really love the way you can create depth even though the game is still 2D.
Alright. Who's on it for some discussion? Let the speculations begin!
As we can see, there are 3 different HUDs. So it's already evolving.
The oldest I think is the one from v0.1 (74). It is simple with very little info.
The newer one add additional info and looks better. We can also see FPS indicator.
The newest one (and the best) looks like the one in the forest. Now things are more interesting here. Although it may be too early to comment, as the HUD may evolve in the future, I already can make some interesting guesses. Lets start with the upper left corner. We can see Pekka`s avatar. This concludes the possibility for player to choose different characters. I.e. select and play with different character, not only limited to Pekka. Although this may not be true, as it can be only for in-levels morphs. Things are getting interesting, as we can see now Pekka got 4 feathers of health. Personally, I would increase that number to 5, but that's my opinion. What is more interesting is the "special" ability. This means either some basic RPG elements or simply Pekka will be able to collect some things in a level for increasing his firepower. There is also an attack bar, which also puts me in mind for some RPG elements. Simply, increasing the bar will level up the attack. There's also "attack 1/3" which may lead to 3 levels of firepower, or Pekka will be able to carry no more than 3 different weapons at a time, which he will be able to change depending on player needs. Items are increased to 5, but we can see only one at a time. Time will tell if this is better. Another new addition is the level score percentage. In my opinion, this is the only thing that is unnecessary. In the end of the level it's good to see your percentage, but in the level, while you're playing, I would hide such information and make it available only by pressing a key (i.e. esc or enter) that could display additional information. And last, but not least - the "party" in the lower right corner. So this looks like a new element of the series. There will be either two player game simultaneously or, more likely, the ability to change between 2 different characters to solve puzzles (like Lost Vikings).
