Hey, I got a new computer (Win7) and I have used dxwnd to run the editor. It works very well but just pressing the f4 key forces the program to shut down, therefore I'm not able to put any sprites in levels. Anyone knows to fix this? (usual rant about necroposting 2 years after the quoted post in the thread... yadayadayada... sorry, guys, I find necroposting useful... But RavMahov 's ( RavMahov's) latest post here is from this year, so yeah...) Bobik : Hmm, I'm not sure what the problem is. If someone can help Bobik, please do, folks. He's been waiting 2 YEARS for some suggestions for a solution... EDIT 1: It seems that Bobik somehow managed to solve that bizarre problem with the Alt-key (maybe he had AltKeys or StickyKeys or whatnot enabled under Windows OS?) P.S. Has anyone seen this: pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Pekka_Kana_2? Pekka Kana 2 has its own game-info page on this nice PCgamingWiki site! P.P.S. Bobik (and others), have you attempted running PK2 using github.com/Codeusa/Borderless-Gaming/releases (or some of the other Borderless_fullscreen_windowed methods for running games under Windows)? EDIT 2: Wow, PK2 does run interestingly after playing around with Borderless-Gaming (as mentioned above)... Maybe we should try running PK2 by combining usage of DxWnd _AND_ Borderless-Gaming?!? EDIT 3: PK2 working under MacOS: www.facebook.com/219506661431315/photos/a.342593049122675.79080.219506661431315/342593055789341/?type=3&theater ?!? EDIT 4: PK2 reported to work 'Platinum' status under Linux via Wine: appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=application&iId=5559 (click on the rows for the two major test result categories for more information)?!? Report: EDIT 5: Maybe PK2 can be minimized to the Windows OS's system tray (systray) by usung a freeware utility like MoveToTray.exe (by developer Anil Soni)? Wow!!! Isn't this interesting! P.P.P.S. Guys and gals, listen here, as interesting as experimentation and video games are, do note that interactions and relationships with real-life people close to you (your loved ones, your family, friends, acquaintances, etc.) is immensely more important. So try to cherish real life (your life and those of your near loved ones) since life is too short anyway. "Why is sahwar saying this crap?", you might ask? Because I realized some depressing truths and decided to share the 'wisdom' that I derived from those truths so as to maybe help make your day at least a little better. I hope it somewhat helps whomever is reading this WHENever and whereever you are, buddy, you aren't alone.

It will crash once you leave the window (on lost focus). There was an option "Do not notify on task switch" or something similar to prevent crashes, but that means the game still handles cursor movement, event outside the window, so you might click something accidentally. But that's still better than plain crash (unless you overwrite your savegame or something by accident).

Ok, I will add my opinion here. Ive recently installed PK2 on my laptop (WIN7), and successfully ran the game using dxwnd. Ive managed to finish all my Joined Forces levels, so we can say that the game works ok. But there are some tiny issues. - In-game "egg" mouse cursor doesn't match system cursor, its some kind of annoying. "Hide system cursor" option does not work, because then cursor dissapears on launcher window and I cant run the game at all. - Game speed isnt very good. I remember this problem on some machines that didnt require emulation so it may be not possible to change it via dxwnd. The problem is, I cant adjust game speed: I have choice between "normal speed" which is so slow that I die from boredom and "double speed" which is so fast, that game is hardly playable. Currently im playing this way, that im using double speed and turning to normal speed on harder moments. I would like to play on speed which is between these two values.

I have that same problem about the slow choppy gameplay but I have win10 and this computer is recently lacking of GPU which may cause the case but I'm not sure. When I played with my win7 laptop (the time it still worked) the game worked fine with killing explorer.exe but I don't know about dxwnd because in that time it wasn't introduced yet. Honestly Rajdh, do you and Kiolp still make levels or have you stopped?

I know that The Evil One was making a compatible version of Pekka Kana with the modern operating system, but it seems that stopped it. Who actually is playing this game without any type of problem?

Try going inside the DXWnd Settings and enable the 'Hide Cursor' As for Game Speed, I really can't help you, I never had this problem before and it may be a processor/graphics card issue

I am, DXWnd is really seamless and it works quite good, I can even go outside PK2 using the Windows key and do other things without PK2 freezing.

About game speed you need to deactivate internet connection and antivirus too. If the problem is still here a better GPU can be the solution

Great work! It helped a lot, but in my computer it stills fullscreen. How do i change it? Remember that:
* My computer has Windows 10
* The version of DxWnd is v2 04.10: v2.04.10 GUI: add: view flags window (expert mode only) DLL: fix: prevent InvalidateRect on desktop, eliminates some flickering fix: ZBUFFER capability management - fixes "Galapagos" in HW mode (but it may crash because of the intro movie...) fix: logging of log flags fix: D3D8/9 QueryInterface fully revisited add: (very) preliminary texture transparency hack
* Pekka Kana version is v1.21.
* If you need any other information please warn me.
EDIT: I have found a possible way to the level editor works with DxWnd as well, but i am still working on it.
By the way, i hope there is anyway to make this to the level editor as well, it is very laggy and useless for now. Remember to read the information above if you can do this.

I use dgVoodoo 2 to translate directx 7 to directx 11. the game runs at its native resolution, upscaling dosen't work, so no 4k thingy action. Your graphics card has to support directx 11 to do this. 1. dege.freeweb.hu/dgVoodoo2_52.zip unzip it with your favorite unzip tool to your favorite location. 2. Inside you'll find a folder called MS with a file called DDraw.dll. You have to copy it into your PK2 folder. You can play around with dgvoodoosetup.exe and enable windowed mode, adjust some options like filtering, scaling and removing the watermark, but note messing with the resolution just introduces visual artifacts, and I don't see a difference with the filters.

Yeeeeah, I'm also using dgVooDoo (if possible), but a couple of people that tested it reported that it doesn't work. Also, what annoys me in it is: - No Alt-Tab handling (game crashes as usual) - "Low performance/color scheme changes" from Windows that pop up and kill the game Thanks for posting, though. I've pretty much forgot to post it.

I know this thread was started years ago, but people get newer OS, so they need another settings. I'm not really good at those IT definitions, so I can't understand what certain settings (in DxWnd) do. I have Windows 10 now and I have tried 6 different DxWnd builds with settings shown somewhere there. 5 of them didn't even start Pekka Kana (I could click on the list position as long as I wanted, nothing was happening) and the 6th one crashed the game instantly after opening. So I ask you: is there anyone who uses DxWnd on Windows 10 and they can play the game without big performance loss? If yes, I'd be really happy of they sent the settings they use and the version of DxWnd (or other program they use).
